Oh hi, I’m Diana!

and It’s my honor to help you Achieve happiness in the kitchen!

Escape2thekitchen was born out of my love of cooking. I not only enjoy cooking for others, but I also enjoy teaching others how to cook. There’s nothing like learning a new recipe to make for someone you love! Follow me as I cook for my family and friends!

But it didn’t start out that way!

When I got married in 1999, I didn’t really know how to cook. I had cooked with my mom and grandmothers when I was little, but as the years went by, I somehow only made boxed meals. They were cheap and easy. After I got married, I made a lot of Hamburger and Tuna Helper until one day my husband, John, had enough. So I decided to make one of my favorite foods from a local restaurant (Zinn’s Diner): Vegetable Soup. It’s good it turned out quite tasty because I made 22 quarts of it! From there, I just picked recipes I thought we would like from the numerous cookbooks my grandmother and mother-in-law had bought me. I was fearless! Or maybe naive… I’d try any recipe, regardless of the skill level required. I learned to love French cooking thanks to Julia Child. I was obsessed with Food Network and all of the celebrity chefs (I’ve met Emeril, Bobby Flay and Ina Garten so far). Soon my husband was complaining more about the grocery bill than the food we were eating! I didn’t know how to budget or plan – I just cooked what we were hungry for. Twenty years later, we are still happily married, and I have expanded my cooking and baking repertoire, as well as my culinary collections!

And that’s exactly what Escape 2 the Kitchen is all about.

Stick with me to learn basic to advanced skills to make cooking easier, faster and more exciting! Oh, and I will be adding tons of recipes, from simple weeknight meals, to special events and holidays. Subscribe to my newsletter and get your meal planning kit here!
